Vista Visions reception and FridaMania at the MOLAA

The city of Vista's Civic Gallery is hosting an all media exhibition, "Vista Visions 2014" from February 22 through April 3, 2014. Opening reception is this Saturday from 2-4 pm. This exhibition was reviewed by juror Daniel Foster, executive director of the Oceanside Museum of Art.

I am very excited to be part of this show, as there were 170 entries, and of those twenty nine were accepted. If you are able to attend the reception this Saturday I would be happy to see you and grateful for the support. A big thank you to gallery director Joyce Pekala for inviting me to join the gallery committee.

Also, I just finished this piece, "¿Te Amo?" for a call for entry to female artists at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach to be considered for virtual display for their upcoming exhibition, Frida Kahlo: Her Pictures. Accepted art will be projected digitally during the MOLAA's Annual Women's Day Festival on March 16, 2014.
I will know whether or not I am accepted into this show by February 28. I'm okay with it if my work isn't accepted, which is why I am sharing it here on my blog. I love Frida! She is such an inspiring character and artist. I feel lucky to have randomly stumbled upon an exhibition of her work in Ponce, Puerto Rico a few years ago with my friend Melissa. Cross your fingers for me!!
